It is said that images are worth more than a thousand words. Therefore, including images in your wordpress site makes the site look better and appealing to your users. Images are not restricted to webmasters who have entertainment sites and other sites that demand use of graphical contents; they can be used by any webmaster. If you can use images in your site, use them as long as they do not compromise the loading speeds of your wordpress site.
If you have decided that you need to use images in your wordpress site, consider the various options for uploading images to your site. You can upload images directly to your site using an uploading client or the FTP client. FTP client allows you to upload as many images as you would like to your wordpress site. On the other hand, you can use the quick tag buttons which have image links. This makes it easy for you to upload images to your wordpress posts as you write them. If by any chance you use an inline image uploading application, the images uploaded will be located at the /wp-content/uploads folder by default. This can be changed by specifying the folder you would like the image to be saved in the administration panel.
Once you have inserted images on the wordpress site, you can change the settings to fit your preferences. You can change the appearance of the image for instance the colour scheme as well as the size of the image. WordPress has tools that you can use to resize and change the colour scheme of the image. CSS also allows one to change the position of the image by aligning it left, right, centre or anywhere else within the document. You can add margins around the image to make the alignment easier. Use of pixels in the images makes it much easier to position the image where you would like it to be.
Always make sure that you images are of high quality. Several factors have to be considered; resolution, size, file type and physical size of the image. Resolution is the number of pixels determining the height and the width of the image. You should know the size of the image before you upload it. Some parts of the site dictate the size of the image to be uploaded at that particular part. The type of the image is another key determinant. There are several types including jpeg, gif and png. Always upload images that can be clearly seen by the users. While JPEG is good for photographs, GIF is appropriate for logos and other types of images. You should consider these factors before you upload the image to enhance better usability.
If you would like to introduce a background to the image, always make sure that the image color and the background colour complement each other accordingly. Using a dark image dictates that you use a light background and a bright image dictates use of a dark background. This ensures that your users and clients are able to browse through the site without a problem. Following these important guidelines is important in maintaining traffic to your site.
