WordPress is one application that makes it easy to style your site accordingly. The site can be used on different computers and browsers when costumed with wordpress. When creating your wordpress site, always remember that there are users out there who like to have hard copies of the materials they are using. Therefore, if they happen to get to your site, they will definitely want to print the content they get from your site. It is therefore very important to make your wordpress site printer friendly. By default, wordpress site is not configured for printing and if a client prints the content that way, some of the most important features especially CSS are lost making the printed document to be of low quality.

To make your site print friendly, you will have to change the architecture of the site especially when creating it. The intention of making your site print friendly should be done when setting up the site. The parts of the site that have to be considered to achieve this include the header, content, sidebar, footer and comments. You can choose the components of the site to include in the printed version. How you manipulate the site to be print friendly is up to you. You can include the footer and leave out the side bar or otherwise. You can set the style in such a way that it can print images or not depending on need.

Another critical factor you can consider is the page break. Page breaks do not work for some printers and browsers and may present problems to the users. In this case, you should consider instilling commands not to print the page breaks because different users use different browsers and printers. Different printing styles can be set in the style sheet itself. The browser can be set to look for the various print styles in the style sheet. The first thing in creating style sheets featuring all printing styles is creating a text file named print css which is saved in the wordpress theme folder.

You should include the relevant codes for the file. If you are to print the content of the site, you should add the code display: content and if you would not like a component like the footer, you should include the code display: none at the section corresponding to the footer. Links should also be created at relevant positions for example on head section of the header. There may be need for structural changes when customizing the site for printing. These changes should be created wisely not to include components that are not to be printed.

Printing fonts and other properties have to be checked accordingly. You have to ensure that the fonts will be readable when users make hard copies from the site. This together with the print size can be ensured by using points instead of pixels because the printer can understand points better than pixels. Other changes that may be done to ensure pretty wordpress printed document include changing the margins, sidebars and other components that may demand changes to have a good looking printed document.
