Getting to Know Web 3.0

If you ask people what impact the web 2.0 has had on the Internet these past few years, most will answer that it has paved the way to social media networking and enhanced the way users can share information between friends and business companies. This fast sharing system has then developed into the phenomenon of Facebook and Twitter as well as other well known social networks.

In fact the web 2.0 is synonymous of sharing and viewing information rapidly, as opposed to the web 1.0 when information was simply presented on websites or sent via email. Communication was not very fast and there were little options that provided a means for sharing and communicating. So if web 2.0 brought such a change, what can we expect from web 3.0?

If you view the future from today’s standpoint it is hard to imagine a web system that will outpace giants such as Twitter, Facebook and MySpace. However, if the web 2.0 was focused on Internet and communication interaction between people, the web 3.0 will focus on the actual users alone.

Experts define the web 3.0 as the semantic system, which is based on data that will keep it moving. What will happen is that the web will receive all data the users provide and fit in with the users’ needs.

It really is already happening. Take the example of a professional web designer. The web has enough data about this user to know which are his or her areas of interest, hence will send all information and ads related to web design.

So what will the benefits be with the web 3.0? The major turning point is that we will be able to access information and data from wherever we wish to. This new trend has been made possible mainly with the use of smart phones and cloud applications, where you do not need to install programs or any software in your computer; you simply have it somewhere on the web and can share or retrieve the data or information with a simple account id and password.

If you need files, information, images, videos, whatever you may need to access, you are not bound to your computer, as you can get the data from anywhere with Internet access. This means that if you forget your USB key or laptop or if you need to get to a client that has called you on your mobile you can retrieve all the files of the project without having hardware on you.

Now that we know how the web 3.0 will revolutionize the Internet, the next question is how will this influence web designing? The web 2.0 was focused on trying to attract users’ attention by using attractive design and other element that had an impact on users, as its strong point was the fact that people could purchase anything on the web.

Web 3.0 will see web designers creating designs that will work well for the web, web browsers and all forms of media. Meaning that it will be focusing on easier access for mobile devices, so that design will have to enhance its quality and technology uses.
